A baby lives here now

Ever since Neha's daughter Aahana was born, we were thinking of visiting them, but things got prolonged and we were unable to visit her. As february approached, we decided that we would all go and visit Neha on her birthday atleast. But then considering our work load, we changed our plan, and decided to visit her on saturday when the work load is relatively low.

On Friday, after finishing lunch, Me and Anu proceeded to find a gift for baby Aahana at the neartest baby store. The shop was filled with little coloful dresses, bibs and booties, baby quilts and several other mom and baby necessities. After looking at several varities, we both settled for a light green coloured baby blanket. Anu also got a very cute little dress for her neice. As we stepped out of the shop, we saw some of our Salus girls sitting at Kamleshwari. Just as Anu went ahead to finish off the rest of her work, i stepped into kamleshwari to join the girls. Vaijayanti, Deepali and Shweta had almost finished their lunch, and were about to leave for office. We chatted for some time, and then left for office.

Later that evening, after office, Me and Sanyogita went to a nearly jewelry store, hoping to find a birthday gift for Neha. Since we didnot know her bangle size we started looking for bracelets, so that they would fit her easily regardless of the size. just as were admiring a braclet, the lady across the counter opened a box of bangles and pulled out a pair of diamond studed bangles. Me and Sanyo instantly liked those bangles, asn we decided to purchase them.

Finally on Saturday, we quickly finished off our lunch and got ready to visit Neha. Bhakti had brought her car, so 5 of the girls could easily fit in the car, while the remaning two went on a scooty. We reached in another 10 minutes. Just as we were about the ring the doorbell, Neha opened the door. Everyone rushed inside to see little Aahana. Turn by turn each one of us lifted Aahana in their arms, and in a babish language started taking to her. With her big angelic eyes, she looked at us as if she understood all that we were saying. When she found things amusing she would break into a big smile, that made us all fall in love with her. We tried monkeing around her to make her smile, but she was feeling so sleepy that most of our efforts went in vain. Everyone kept telling Neha that, her little wonder looked just like her. We presented the the gifts to them and Neha loved them. The clock was ticking fast, and before we knew it was time for us to get back to office. We all promised Aahana that we would visit her again and left for office. Seeing Neha cradling Aahana, i was remindedof this poem from an unknown author :
In the corner of the spare room,
There's a little cradle now:
And the day-to-day routine
Has gotten busier somehow.

There's a bib among the napkins--
And a talcumy perfume
Drifts around the little toys
That lie about the room.

The little teddy bear stands guard
With his round and rolly eyes
When all the house is still
But for the sounds of lullabies.

Yet even without all these things,
It's still obvious somehow
From the happiness that fills the air,
A baby lives here now.
