Barsat ki ek sham
"Girls please lets go for Tea", sanyogita cried out. I looked at the watch, it was almost quarter to 5, and the sun had started to go down. Guess i was too busy working that afternoon, and had not noticed the time. we started walking toward the nearby chai stall, where we usually go for Tea and snacks. While we leisurely chatted over garma garam chai and snacks, some of the girls rushed back to the office saying, they had some urgent work to finish. Me, Praj.O, and sanyogita sat up chatting, while sangita finshed her poha. And in a minute, just like some on had turned on the shower, it started to pour. People were caught unaware and everyone started running for shelter. The smell of yummy uttapas, tempted Praj O. o order one. while Praj.O enjoyed the uttapha, We kept glancing at our watches. It was getting late, but the rains wouldnt stop.
We decided to take an auto, but who would ferry us for such a short distance. Plus the autowallas in pune dont really agree to "Grahak Raja hai". They are apni marzi ke malik. You are at the mercy of the autowallas. After, much, much persuation, if they agree to ferry you, dont celebrate,my friend the battle is just half won. You will have to listen to their taunts and excuses, "Kitni zik-zik karti hai madam","baap-re itni door","hum building ke andar nahi ayega","Chutta paisa do","return ka extra paisa do", "luggage ka extra paise","doggy le jane ka double paise", and so on.. Ufff.. I could write a book on this topic.
Finally, we signaled an auto to stop. Covering our head with duppatas, we rushed toward the auto. "4 log kaisa lega madam", he said, as we stuffed the four of us in the auto. "Idhar checking nahi hota hai bhaiya, chalta hai" we replied in one voice."Par janeka Kidhar hai ?", he asked, in a confused tone. "Bas idhar samne, app chalo bas, hum bolte hai", we said trying to lengthen the 0.001 km distance. In about half a minute, as we neared our office, we feared, he would start grumbling. As he dropped us the gate, Sangita handed him the money and before he could say anything, Sanyogita turned to him and said "itna short distance ke liye aap ko aur koi nahi milta bhaiya".Wah! what a way to convice him, that this was a profitable deal for him. Although we didnt wait to see if he was convinced or not, we were glad he saved us from getting drenched in the rain that day.
