Dreaming of Snoopy

Aai reminded me the other day, that its been 2 years since we lost Snoopy. I was surprised by the fact that time flies so fast, and shocked by the fact that how busy i got with my own stuff, that i had to be reminded of this.

Ever since we were little, Pranjalee and I always wanted to have a dog of our own. Back then my school friend Kavita, had a dog called Snowy, and whenener we visited her, i always wished we could have a dog too. Aai Papa both worked away from home, all day long, while we would be gone to school, and so it was practially impossible for us to get a dog. Later, when Aai took VRS and quit her job, we decided that we could now manage to take care of a dog.

When Snoopy came in, he was a little cuddly pup 2 months old, i bet we felt on the top of the world to have a dog of own. I dont remember who came up with the name Snoopy, but we all love him so much. Snoopy was a very moody dog, and at times he would be upset and run after us chewing off our socks, dresses and toys.

With time, we all got busy with life, and could not always find time to play with Snoopy. He was getting older too. Climbing the stairs, would tire him easily. It has been a couple of days, and we noticed that he refused to eat anything. We took him to the Vet, and got some tests done. We soon found that he had a kidney malfunction, and probabaly had only a months time to live.
Canine kidney malfunction, is a common type of disease in older dogs, and there is no treatemnt that can cure that. That news shook all of us. We all stated spending a lot of time with him, and reseached the net to get the do's and dont's. But we could all see that he was in pain and it pained us ever more knowing that there was not much we could do.

One day while returning from office, i stopped at nearby a ganesh mandir , and as i closed my eyes to pray, i asked God to give us enough strength to face the situation. That night each of us in family, turn by turn, sat close to him, and patted him trying to put him to sleep.
I always complained that snoopy was so huge that he would not fit into my lap, but that night, as i patted him, he slowly climbed into my lap, and lay there, till it was time for me to go to sleep.

Later, when mom came to wake us the next morning, she slowly huggead each of us and told us that snoopy has passed away last night. Battling their tears as Aai papa tried to console Pranjalee and me, i was unable to digest the fact, that my dog Snoopy, who was with us for 11 years, was gone forever. Ever since we got to know that we would lose snoopy, we had decided that we would bury Snoopy at our Karjat home so that even after he was gone he would stay with us forever. we headed strainght off to Karjat that morning. When we got back home, an emptiness filled our hearts. Something we loved very much was gone, and the fact that it would never come back, was harder to live with.

Its been two years now, since Snoopy left us, we miss him so much. Recently, had a dream about Snoopy. I dont remember much of the dream, but in my dream i called out his name and he came to me. I saw him, i saw our Snoopy, after so many days, he looked just the way he was, and as always he was so happy to see me. The nextday, i kept thinking about my dream, why did i dream of Snoopy, what was the dream trying to tell me. I dont know, except the fact that, i missed him and it was Gods way of letting me have a glimpse of him and telling me that is is ok, whereever he is. Love you Snoopy.
